The family-friendly Kearsney Easter Festival is back, with some of the country’s top rugby schools once again providing a spectacle of running rugby at one of South Africa’s most prestigious and famous schoolboy rugby festivals.

Venue : Kearsney College, Botha’s Hill

On Thursday 2 April, Saturday 4 April and Monday 6 April, twelve highly-ranked rugby schools will entertain the crowds with scintillating running rugby, while 12 primary schools battle it out on the adjacent field. Four Girls teams will once again be participating, with a game on each day, adding to the action, fun and excitement of the festival.
Set on their beautiful campus, the festival provides a wonderful day out for the whole family, with incredible schoolboy rugby, delicious food outlets, a refreshment tent and an expansive KidZone.

Familie Fest will be back in 2026 and tickets are selling fast! This vibrant live music concert celebrating the joy of family and friends is not to be missed! It will take place again at NU Driving Range, Hillcrest on 29 and 30 May and will feature a stellar lineup of South African bands.

The event this year will be the 99th edition and will be an ‘Up Run,’ challenging runners with the infamous hills from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

The world’s oldest and largest – roughly 90-kilometer (56-mile) ultra-marathon, run annually in South Africa, alternating direction each year between an “up” run and a “down” run is not to be missed. Runners from all over the world take on this challenge.
The annual aQuellé Foresyte Winter Classic event is back in June. This major 5-day national showjumping event features top-level showjumping, including FEI World Cup Qualifiers with elite riders from around the country.
With an electrifying atmosphere, world-class tracks, a bustling vendor village and incredible prizes, it promises to be some great entertainment. There will also be groom competitions, delectable food options, VIP seating and so much more.

The highlight of the youth equine year is taking place at Shongweni Club from 27 June to 5 July. Expect an exciting display of talent, endeavour, hard work, spills and triumphs. There will be individual and team events and riders from around the country will be competing in this exciting competition.

On 19 July, the annual Amashova Classic will be back and this will be the 40th year it will take place! This iconic event offers a choice of four routes: 40km; 65km; 106km and 132km. It is the first year that the 40km Fun Ride will start at Westown, less than 10 minutes from Chillifields Guest House. A drop-and-go zone is typically available at the Shongweni Club (5mins away) between 04h30 & 05h30, from where you can cycle to the start line.
Entries close in June so book now to avoid missing out.

Start : Assagay Westown (38km); George Cato Primary School, Camperdown (65km); City Hall, Pietermaritzburg. (106km) & Mandela Capture Site, Natal Midlands (132km).
Participants can collect their race numbers at the Mandela Capture Site on Friday 17 July from 09:00 to 14:00 or at Suncoast on Saturday 18 July from 09:00 to 16:00.
