The 75th Dusi Canoe Marathon

The Dusi Canoe Marathon 2026 is scheduled for Thursday, February 19 to Saturday, February 21, 2026, running from Camps Drift in Pietermaritzburg to Blue Lagoon in Durban, marking a significant event in the canoeing calendar for South Africa. Entries for the historic 75th Dusi are already open, with early bird deadlines in late 2025, so paddlers can prepare for the iconic three-day race.

Murder on the Trails - Giba Gorge

1 March is time for some outdoor grit. Test your perseverance with this scenic trail involving waterfalls, river crossings and some hills in lush forests. It is not called ‘Murder on the Trails’ for nothing, try out this killer event and you might be back again!

Just 10 minutes from Chillifields in Assagay, explore Upper Highway suburbia. This event follows a route that starts and ends at the Giba Gorge restaurant, Giba Graze.

Tala Trail Run - Tala Game Reserve

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure at the Tala Trail Run, set in the breathtaking Tala Game Reserve! Covering over 3,000 hectares, this trail takes you through a stunning mix of landscapes, from rolling sugar cane fields to lush bushveld.

Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for over 380 bird species and an incredible variety of wildlife, including kudu, hippo, giraffe, and eland. The winding tracks will lead you past tranquil dams and open grasslands, where you might spot 20 species of antelope, such as oribi, bushbuck, and reedbuck, as well as rhino and blou wildebeest.

Conveniently located near Chillifields in Assagay, this is your chance to escape into the wild, soak in the beauty of nature, and experience a true trail-running adventure!

The family-friendly Kearsney Easter Festival is back, with some of the country’s top rugby schools once again providing a spectacle of running rugby at one of South Africa’s most prestigious and famous schoolboy rugby festivals.

Comrades Marathon 2026

Mark your calendars and start your preparations, because ‘The Ultimate Human Race’ returns on Sunday, 14 June 2026!

The event this year will be the 99th edition and will be an ‘Up Run,’ challenging runners with the infamous hills from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.

The world’s oldest and largest –  roughly 90-kilometer (56-mile) ultra-marathon, run annually in South Africa, alternating direction each year between an “up” run and a “down” run is not to be missed. Runners from all over the world take on this challenge.

Approximately 22 000 to 22 399 runners will be taking part this year, with entries selling out in record time in less than 10 hours on November 3, 2025. The Comrades Marathon Association initially capped entries at 22,000 but accepted slightly more to accommodate demand, making it one of the fastest-selling events in the race’s history.
