The KZN Dressage Champs 2026

This big event is happening soon. It attracts both local KZN-based riders and visiting equestrians from across the country who travel to compete at prominent local venues like this. Participants are categorized and compete based on experience and horse training levels, which range from Preliminary to Advanced tests. 

Date : 7 – 10 August 2026
Venue :  Shongweni Club, Kzn
Time: From 8am 

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Dressage Championships are participated in by registered equestrians across multiple divisions, including juniors, youths, and adult riders. These competitors must be registered with Dressage South Africa (via an affiliated club) and often compete both as individuals and as representatives of provincial or regional teams

Balwin Wild Run 2-Day Trail

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime at the NEW Balwin Properties WILD RUN 2-Day Trail Run starting and finishing at the exciting new Westown Square, precinct in Shongweni.

Set in the stunning upper-highway countryside, this 2-day trail run will give you a challenging race, rolling trails and reward you with some of the most breathtaking views the area has to offer. Over two days, you will navigate through forests, across rugged terrain, and along scenic rolling hills, all while experiencing the perfect blend of nature’s beauty and adrenaline-pumping challenges. Whether you are an experienced trail runner or a passionate beginner, this race is designed to be an “MUST DO” event of endurance and beauty.

Flourish 2026, Hillcrest CityHill Church

Join this inspiring women’s conference that happens annually every August as women gather from different backgrounds, cultures and ages to learn, inspire and connect. With incredible guest speakers, music, a craft market and so much more, it is something not to be missed.

Time: Friday, 22 August: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Saturday, 23 August: 9:00am – 4:00pm 

This conference includes a snack on day one and a light lunch on day two. It caters for all and even has a kids’ programme available for children aged 3 – 12 at conference 2. The cost is R120 per child, and tickets for the kids’ programme are available online.

If you are someone in need of some extra TLC, Flourish will still be enjoyable for you! The Gorge Run 2026

An original that returns with an extra twist and 2 new distances to add to the collection of favourites. The 21km runners will need to conquer challenging terrain taking them on a challenge up ladders, across rivers and to stunning waterfalls. Not your average trail , this one is unforgettable.

The second performance of the highly requested sequel ‘From Screen to Stage: Part 2’ will be held at The Junction Venue, St Agnes Church, Kloof and brought to you by Durban CIty Orchestra.
 
By popular demand, they’ve expanded the programme to include some of the most highly requested music from film and stage, featuring favourites from Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and beloved Disney classics, alongside other iconic themes audiences know and love.

Bisley Trail 2026, Pmb

Experience the untamed beauty of trail running at the Bisley Trail Run. Just outside Pietermaritzburg, the Bisley Nature Reserve is a true hidden gem, home to roaming giraffe, wildebeest and zebra, alongside an impressive array of birdlife including the Southern Tchagra, Dwarf Bittern, Corncrake and Booted Eagle.

The route winds its way through open grasslands and rugged thornveld, offering expansive views and a real sense of immersion in the wild. This is the second trail in Bisley this year, a popular trail. The Bisley Valley Reserve is 350 hectares of thornveld and grassland.

Kzn Derby - Shongweni Club

Having just had the Toyota SA Youth Eventing Championships, the Kzn Spring Derby is the premier showcase for provincial eventing and showjumping talent.

Venue : Shongweni Club, Kzn
Disciplines: Integrated cross-country, dressage & derby showjumping lines

The venue relies heavily on its dedicated cross-country tracks designed by Douglas Welsh to test riders of varying terrains with water and technical tracks.

Basketball Stayers Tournament 2026

The upcoming annual Independent Schools Stayers Tournament takes place at Kearsney College in September. It will feature top independent school teams from across South Africa.

Venue : Kearsney College Skweyiya SportZone, Botha’s Hill, KwaZulu-Natal
Cost: Free for spectators
Defending Champions: Kearsney College (won the 2025 title in a nail-biting 57–56 final against St John’s College)
Participating Teams : Top independent schools from around South Africa including Bishops, Hilton, Michaelhouse, St John’s & St Stithians
